An article in the Financial Times has examined the top 5 per cent of property markets around the world, comparing how much prime residential space you can buy for $1 million. Monaco sits at the top of the list as the most expensive city in the world, where $1 million will buy you just 17 square metres. To put that into perspective, to fit a king size bed into a Monaco apartment it will cost you $250,000 in floor space. Sydney sits in 7th position, with 59 square metres, whilst Melbourne is a little further down in 11th, where you will get 110 square metres per million dollars.
